By any measure, Pixar's process has led to unparalled success. The Pixar Animation Studio has earned 24 Academy Awards, six Golden Globes, and three Grammys, among many other awards and acknowledgements. Each of their fourteen films debuted as the number one movie in its opening weekend. In 1995, Pixar's first feature film, Toy Story was released in theaters and became the highest grossing film of 1995, grossing 12 times what it cost to make. which earned John Lasseter a Special Achievement Oscar for his "inspired leadership of the Pixar Toy Story team resulting in the first feature length computer animated film."

Pixar's first film to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film was Finding Nemo in 2003, successively followed by The Incredibles, Ratatouille, WALLE, Up, Toy Story 3, and Brave. In 2010, Toy Story 3, Pixar's crown jewel, was released and became Pixar's first to reach the billion dollar mark.

In addition to the commercial success, which Pixar has enjoyed, they have also recieved peer recognition for their ground-breaking technology, such as theScientific and Engineering Academy Award for their pioneering inventions in digitalimage compositing recieved for Toy Story among many other awards.
